surgical instructions

     
 
  • You may not have anything to eat or drink (including water) for six (6) hours prior to the surgery appointment.
  • No smoking at least 12 hours before surgery. Ideally, cut down or stop smoking as soon as possible prior to the day of surgery.
  • A responsible adult must accompany the patient to the office, remain in the office during the procedure, and drive the patient home.  This person should also be able to stay with you for several hours once you get home and situated.
  • The patient should not drive a vehicle or operate any machinery for 24 hours following the anesthesia experience. 
  • Please wear loose fitting clothing with sleeves which can be rolled up past the elbow, and low-heeled shoes.  Please do not wear pantyhose.
  • Contact lenses, jewelry, and dentures must be removed at the time of surgery.
  • Do not wear lipstick, excessive makeup, or dark nail polish on the day of surgery.
  • Do not let us give you any medication if you are, or suspect that you may be pregnant.
  • Please advise our office a few days before your surgical appointment if you develop lung or nasal congestion, flu, colds or a fever.
  • If taking prescription medications for other medical reasons these may be taken at their normal times with small sips of water unless otherwise indicated by Dr. Johnson.
  • Your surgery appointment will be rescheduled if pre-surgical instructions are not implicitly followed.
